SEM&VOL is theeighth independentassociation of the
Movement ofSolidarités Jeunesses, which is located in
Dordogne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine(aregion in thesouth-west of
France).
Solidarités Jeunesses (www.solidaritesjeunesses.org) isayouth
and communityeducation association, which consists of
7affiliated territorialassociationsand 1 partner organization.
Most of thesestructures host international volunteersas well
as young peoplein need of social integration and areinvolved
in thelocal development of their regions through avariety of
activities.Altogether, the movement has over1200 members,
of whom 300areinvolved in actionsall year round.

The association Sem&Vol, affiliated to Solidarités
Jeunesses, works towards:
-thevoluntary participation ofall in social life – at local, nationaland
international levels,
-alocal development respectful of theindividual, theenvironment
and cultural heritage,
-intergenerational, intracultural, intercultural and international
meetingsand exchanges,
-tangible peace-buildingactions,
-reflection, practicesand projects in thefield ofenvironmental
education in line with asustainable developmentapproach
Sem&Vol was founded in 2013 in a village called Le Buisson de Cadouin,
on the occasion of its first international project. Since this year, more
than 70 international workcamps and projects have been organised and
hosted by different communes in the Dordogne, bringing together many
peoplefrom around the world and thelocal population.
Since 2018, the organisation developpes it’s hosting center of
international long-term volunteers, first in Cadouin and since May 2022,
in Cause de Clérans.
SEM&VOL
To host local youth on Civic Service missions and volunteers under the
European Solidarity Corps program, to help develop our association and
promotethe differentactivities wecarry out in our region.
To support already existing activities of the association and create new
ones to maintain the link with local people through participating,
organizingand managinginterculturaland workingactivities.
To develop our short-term projects in the region (workcamps, youth
exchanges, trainings, hosting groups …) in order to enable international
experience close to home for local youth to have and to gain more
autonomy through interculturaland interpersonal learning as well as the
experience of collectivelife.
To boost the promotion of volunteeringto thelocal youth and…
… to inform them about international mobility, civic engagement and
volunteering.
One of the values of ourassociation is developing partnerships with
different municipalities of theregion NouvelleAquitaine,as wellas with
public institutionsand localassociations.Each project is designed in
partnership with alocal organization and our involvement provides
support to alocalaction by bringingtheinternational componentand our
non-formaleducation values.
The main objectives of our actions are:
Hosting French and international volunteers is a fundamental
part of our mission : theseshortand long-term exchangesarethe direct
expression of our valuesand will to contributeto our territorial development.
Volunteers come with the desireto experiencecollectivelife(sharing
responsibilities: cookingthe meals, washingup,housework, spending
timetogether,discover theregion …), butalso to discover new activities
with concretelearning objectives – forexample, manual, technicaland
linguistic skills.
The hosting place
You will be welcomed in atwo-floor house with a biggarden space
in thevillage Cause. Maximum six volunteers will be hosted in two
mixed bedrooms. The house hasashowerand a bathroom, two
toillets,afullyequiped kitchen. On thefirst floor, we will besharing
mealsand leisuretimein a hugelivingroom with theterrace.
The house also havea work spacefor volunteersand officeroom for
thestaff.
The monthly timetable that we have established will
give you the opportunity to gain technical knowledge
and skills in various areas:
In addition, oncea week,agroup team meeting will take
placeto work together on activity planning, budget
managementand to evaluatethe week.
- Daily workcamp (minor masonry work, woodwork,painting,
environmental work) - Organization and participation in local intercultural activities such as
interventions in schools, creative workshops for specificaudiences (you
can choose: children, teenagers,elderlypeople, …), localeventsas well
as languageclasses oncea week; - Building networks between localand our associations, to guarantee
better communication and agreater coherencein territorialactions; - Promotion of theassociation and volunteering(presentations,
creation of communication mediafor Sem&Vol,etc.)
Every volunteer is working with thelocalassociationsand institutions
participatingin projectsand developingactivities
.
During summer,Sem&Vol organizes international volunteer
workcampsand youth exchanges in thearea. They usually take
place overathree-week period in surroundingrural communities.
Thereare different kinds of projects: renovation or restoration of
local heritagesites , the promotion of cultural heritage, the
protection of theenvironment , the organization ofartsand/or
culturalactivities, festivals…

schools, takingpart inlocal festivities, theatre)

association remains the
motivation and the willingness
of thevolunteers to invest
themselves wholeheartedly in
Sem&Vol.
